Youth and Sports Development Ministry Reacts To Trending Video of Former Boxer

A widely circulated video reportedly of a former Nigerian boxer Stephen Ogbo has come to the attention of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.

In that video, Mr Stephen Ogbo, who now appears to be visually impaired, displayed some pictures and medals he claimed to have won for Nigeria in his active days including a gold medal at the 1974 Commonwealth Games.

Touched by the plight of Mr Stephen Ogbo, the Youth and Sports Development Minister, Sunday Dare has asked for more facts about him so that his claims can be verified and the right kind of help and support can be given to him in line with the Welfare programme for former athletes put in place under his leadership since coming on board two years ago.

Nigerian Ex International boxer Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo applauds the latest innovation and Creativity from International Boxing Association (AIBA) leadership and it’s Committee for allocation of Two Million Six Hundred Thousand US Dollars($2.6 Million USD) about Two billion Naira (N2billon) as prize money for men’s World Boxing Championship in Belgrade coming up on the ending of November 2021.

About 56 Gold, Silver and Bronze medal winning youths will collect Gold (1ST POSITION) – 100, 000 USD, Silver (2ND POSITION) – 50, 000 USD and Bronze (3RD POSITION – 25, 000 USD).

Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo who is also Abia State Sports Ambassador (Boxing) said the new money incentive in the Former Amateur Association will create huge human capacity building and practical youth empowerment.

Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo the grass root Talent hunt expert encourages the Minister of youth and Sports development Mr Sunday Dare to strive harder in grass root Boxing Development.

Mazi comr Ikechukwu Okoronkwo also call on State Governors to nominate Sports professional, Sports Journalist and good business administrators with Passion in human capacity building for the position of youth and Sports development at State level so as to achieve the desired result.

Regarding the information reaching the desk of the Ex international boxer in Enugu, Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo will not contest for National Federation election scheduled by 30th September 2021.

According to Mazi Comr Ikechukwu Okoronkwo the Vateran grass root Boxing Talent hunt expert stated in Enugu that Federal Government have not deem it proper to address the circumstances around Monday’s Sit at Home in the whole South East State for the interest of peace and Unity which have created Internal crisis in various State of the south east, wherein life and properties are being wasted on every sit at home days.

Mazi comr Ikechukwu Okoronkwo said that South East Governors knew very well the danger in the sit at home and what the people wanted but refuses to address the case with honesty on purpose rather Some of our Governor decided to be chasing the winds.

President Buhari GCFR should use grassroot tools to understand the mind of the people at the Grassroot with a view to bringing lasting peace and Unity toward moving the Nation forward.
