The Senator Representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Uche Ekwunife on Wednesday attended the commissioning of the Court of Appeal, Awka Division.

The court of Appeal Awka Division was today commissioned by the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Adamu Bulkachuwa OFR.

Ekwunife who was present at the event which was attended by the Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency, Chief Willie Obiano congratulated Justice Bulkachuwa and the state government on the establishment of the Division of the Court.

She noted that the establishment of the division will quicken the administration of Appeal cases from the state and neighbouring states, given that Anambra State has a very rich history in the legal profession and also has a sizable number of SANs.

Continuing she said, “It is also on record that over 70% of the cases heard and decided at the Court of Appeal Enugu Division, originate from Anambra State”.

“With the Court of Appeal located here in Awka, lawyers from Anambra State would be spared the trauma of traveling on the expressways all the time to appear before the Court of Appeal Enugu Division”, she said.

She appreciated Justice Bulkachuwa for giving the necessary approvals and the state government for providing the enabling environment for the establishment of the division, while reiterating that the establishment of the Awka Division of the Court of Appeal will in no small measure improve the dispensation of Justice in and around the State.
