The performance of the three All Progressives Congress (APC) senators representing Lagos State in the 9th National Assembly is nothing to write home about, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Lagos state chapter has said.

Speaking in a chat with DAILY INDEPENDENT on Saturday, Taofik Gani, the party’s Publicity Secretary said Oluremi Tinubu ( Lagos Central), Bayo Oshinowo (Lagos East), Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Lagos West) have failed to meet the expectations of Lagosians as their representatives in the upper chamber of the National Assembly.

It said the three senators have failed to move the motion for the National Assembly to urgently accord the 37 local council development areas in the state full status of local governments.

It also said they have failed to convince the federal government to give attention to federal roads in Lagos despite the fact that the current Minister of Works, Babatunde Fashola (SAN) is a former governor of the state.

“The clear and obvious report that every Lagosian who is not partisan can give on the three senators representing Lagos State in the National Assembly is that they have performed below average; intact, they are failures”.

“There are certain fundamental expectations that only the senators can push on behalf of the state but virtually none has seen the light of the day”

“On the mind of Lagosians is the issue of the Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) to be granted statutory rights as full Local governments. These senators have failed to even suggest it, not to talk of moving a motion on it”.

The other issue is the granting of special status to Lagos. Only the senators can move that now. They are supposed to gather all others, including the House of Representatives members to make sure this becomes a reality. But they have not been able to do that”.

“As we speak to you, the issue of federal roads in Lagos. Expectations have not been met not only because the state government has failed to rehabilitate the roads but because the three senators who are supposed to liaise with the Minister of Works, who ironically is a former governor of the state have failed to do their jobs.

“They used to claim that the roads are bad because the Federal government is under the opposition PDP but the now the state government, local government and even the Federal government is under their control yet nothing is coming to Lagos to make us feel that yes we have credible people in the Senate.

“To us, we believe they are only there for their selfish interests. Go to other states and see the activities of senators there. The three senators in Lagos should show to us the schools constructed and serious poverty alleviation programmes they have done”.

The PDP particularly challenged Senator Oluremi Tinubu to list her achievements since she got elected into the National Assembly.
