Some natives of Kpaduma community in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) have appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to end the incessant demolition of buildings by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).

Secretary to Kpaduma community, Simon Baba-Yerima, who made the call on behalf of the natives in a press briefing, in Abuja at the weekend, stated that with the present FCTA, led by Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, that there is hope for the natives against marginalisation.

Baba-Yerima frowned at a situation where the ancestral homes are being demolished and natives driven out to look for where to reside, while their farmlands are taken from them without adequate compensation, adding that such treatment is inhumane and should be discontinued to ensure that peace reigns in the territory.

“We pray that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari will put a stop to the menace and inhumane treatment that is melted out to the indigenes of the FCT by the past administration. It is not just Kpaduma communities alone, but for all indigenes, because we have suffered a lot in the hands of this government”.

“We believe that as a leader, who has the passion for the masses and not only for the high class in the society, he will listen to our cries and bring succour to the FCT indigenes.”

He lamented that despite the peaceful means taken by indigenes and residents of the communities to ensure that their rights are protected by going to court to make sure that things are done in the right way, the FCTA still went to the community to mark some houses for demolition.
