Eid-El-kabir : APGA BOT member hosts 300 moslems, preaches peace

By Oge Onyeanusi, Onitsha

As moslems all over the world celebrate Eid-El-kabir, a member of Board of Trustees, (BOT) of the ruling All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, called for peace amongst Nigerians as he hosts about 300 moslems in his Oba residence.

Playing host to them he called the over 300 moslem faithful in his Oba, Idemili South residence, to love one another.

He said that the celebration, “is called,, ‘Baban Sallah, in the moslem world’, I have to host my moslem brothers. This is love which was displayed by te Biblical Ibrahim when God asked him to use his only begotten son as sacrifice to God.”

“As he was about to slaughter Isaac God intervened and sent a ram which was in replacement of Isaac”

“It shows that you have to love God and man, so we call the celebration Baban sallah”, he stated.

“When you kill ram you share it (love) into three places, one for the family that brought the ram, another part for the moslem and the third for non moslems”

“So we have to show love to each and every one of us irrespective of one’s religious, political, ethnic and whatever inclination”

Earlier the Chief Iman of Oba, Alfa Mohammed Tukur, in his sermon prayed God to continue to guard and guide Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka as he worked for the interest of both moslems and non moslems.

He also prayed for long life of Ezeonwuka so that he would continue to host the moslems in the area.

The Chief Iman who was flanked by the chairman of Hausa community in Oba, Malam Alkii Mohammed, and Alfa Lateef Ayodele, the Muazin/Afo Oba Iman mosque, Alfa Hamas Mohammed, said Ezeonwuka remained their father in Oba.

“We thanked God for Rommy Ezeonwuka, we pray God to keep this our father, he should stay and continue to host us” he prayed.

Gunmen Shoot RCCG Pastor Dead In Lagos During Child Dedication Service.

Bolanle Ibrahim, a pastor at King of King Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Lagos State has been shot dead.

The pastor was gunned down on the altar of the church located inside Maidan village in Ikosi Ketu Local Government Area of Lagos State.

The deceased was said to be praying for some person during a child dedication when gunmen broke into the church.

The gunmen reportedly tried to drag Ibrahim out, but another senior pastor in the church approached them and demanded what they wanted from him.

They were said to have attacked the pastor before returning to the victim.

The deceased aunt, Mrs. Justina Alebiosu, described the incident as a clear case of assassination.

“Before they killed him, they showed him his picture to identify if he was actually the right person they came for. His death was an unfortunate one, we have lost a gentleman, it was true we were born as Muslims, but we converted to Christianity. My thinking is that my brother had business transaction with someone,” the New Telegraph quoted her to have said.

“I was told when the assailants wanted to drag him out of the pulpit where he was praying for women who brought their children for dedication, he begged them to kill him there and that was where he was eventually killed by the gunmen.”

She stated that the assailants also threatened to shoot any member of the church who tried to challenge them.

Mrs. Alebiosu called on the police commissioner, Hakeem Odumosu to release the body of her brother for burial, saying, “presently we are all down morally, because of his sudden death.”

The distraught wife of the deceased, Mrs. Kudirat Ibrahim, who said her husband was fasting the day he was killed, dismissed the insinuation that he was a cultist.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed the incident, said the police have launched a manhunt for the assailants.

He said, “We are investigating the case because we have a clue into the killing.”

2023 Christian President: MURIC Replies CAN, Says ‘It Is Not Your Turn’

PRESS RELEASE

Nigeria’s Muslim human rights group, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), has reacted to a recent statement issued by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in which it called for a Christian president for Nigeria by 2023. MURIC said while it is not opposed to the idea of a Christian president for Nigeria, CAN must wait for its turn.

MURIC spoke via its director and founder, Professor Ishaq Akintola, on Monday, 2nd August, 2023. The full statement reads:

“The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) last week demanded a Christian president come 2023 (https://thenationonlineng.net/2023-can-pushes-for-christian-president/). But we believe that it is not yet the turn of a Christian to be the president of Nigeria if we want to go by mathematical exactitude from the time Nigeria began civil rule in 1999.

“Chief Mathew Aremu Olusegun Obasanjo, a Christian, spent eight (cool years as president (1999 – 2007). Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan also spent five (5) years (5th May, 2010 – 29th May, 2015). That brings the total spent by Christian presidents in Aso Rock to thirteen (13) years.

“Meanwhile Alhaji Musa Yaradua, a Muslim, spent three (3) years as president and the incumbent, President Muhammadu Buhari, will be completing his eighth year in office by the good Grace of Allah on 29th May, 2023. By simple arithmetic, this will bring the total spent by the two Muslim presidents to eleven (11) years.

“MURIC is being generous, otherwise it would have towed the line of those who argue that Jonathan spent six (6) years and that will bring the total number of years spent by Christians to fourteen (14). In the same vein, we would have supported those who said Yaradua spent just two (2) years and that would have reduced the number of years spent by Muslims in power to ten (10) years.

“Muslims will be shortchanged by two or four years if a Christian becomes president in 2023. The ideal thing is to allow another Muslim to spend only one term from 2023 to 2027. There will be no doubt about who takes the reins of power from 2007 because a Christian must be installed as president at that time. All controversies would have been removed but there is controversy now.

“For the avoidance of doubts, we reiterate our readiness to accept a Christian as president but it must be at the right time. It will be unfair to install a Christian president in 2023 when Muslims still have a shortfall of two or four years. It is the group that has a two-year or four-year shortfall that should be given the chance for a make-up, not the group that has a two-year advantage.

“We advise CAN to wait for its own time and to stop heating up the polity with untimely demands. CAN should also take a retrospective look at its attitude towards the incumbent since 2015 when a Christian president left the stage. Nigerians are already comparing CAN’s weekly visits to Aso Rock in the days of Jonathan, a Christian president, to turn on the tap of gold and its extremely hostile stance to the incumbent, a Muslim president, since 2015. We really sympathise with CAN but facts are sacred. Figures and dates are sacrosanct.”

South Africa Pastor Vows To Pay Sacked Winners Chapel Pastors For 5 Years

The founder of a South African-based church, Abba Father Ministries, Isaiah Okechukwu has placed one of the pastors sacked by the Living Faith Church Worldwide, aka Winners Chapel, Pastor Godwin Onoruoiza on N100, 000 a month salary for the next 5 years pending when he finds his feet.

The pastor made this known in a Facebook post on Monday.

In the post, he compared Oyedepo’s action to that of Nigerian businessman, Obi Cubana and shared a screenshot of his first payment of N100, 000 to Godwin, one of the pastors affected by the mass sacking.

“This reason why some people are not condemning Bishop David Oyedepo is because he is the Godfather to their spiritual fathers and for that they have become imbeciles who cannot speak up and talk.

“The same godfatherism in politicians lives is the same game that is being played in the church of God.

“Indeed Oyedepo and some of our fathers have a lot to learn from Obi Cubana,” he added.

Chrysora Media had reported how a man who identified himself as a former pastor of Winners Chapel, Peter Godwin, was allegedly sacked for not generating enough money in his branch.

Godwin in a trending video seen by SaharaReporters said he was employed on the 28th of August, 2020.

He claimed he was invited with about 40 of his colleagues by the state pastor on July 1, 2021, and were all sacked over low incomes generated in their branches.

Godwin, however, failed to mention the name of the state.

He said, “Actually, by the special grace of God, our father in this great assembly, Living Faith Church received a mandate from the Lord to plant 10,000 churches in Nigeria and by the special grace of God, I was privileged to be one of the pastors that were employed on the 28th of August, 2020, that was last year.

“So after that, I started working, engaging myself in the work of the Lord. I tried my possible best to make sure I win souls for Christ but unfortunately, on the 1st of July, I received a call that the state pastor wants to see me, so I thought I was the only one. I was surprised, so I went to his office.

“When I got there, I saw other pastors too, over 40 of them, so I joined them. A few minutes later, we were issued a letter. I opened the content of the letter to see what was there and I saw that it was a sack letter.”
