Statement on the Dissolution of Boards of National Olympic Sports Federations by the Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Chief Sunday Dare, on Friday, 30th April, 2021
Courtesy
1. In keeping with the Olympic Charter which stipulates a 4 year tenure for all Sports Federations Boards, the tenure of the National Olympic Sports Federations in Nigeria have come to an end. There is a need for a transition from the old Boards to the new one.
2. Within the last 4 years, a few of the National Sports Federations Boards performed remarkably well while many others have been bogged down by unnecessary bickerings and divisions among the board members.
3. Having run a full Olympic cycle, the Boards of the NSFs inaugurated on 21 June, 2017 are hereby dissolved to pave way for fresh elections.
4. I wish to thank all the Board members for their contributions within the period they served in their various Federations Boards.
5. In order to ensure continuity in the administration of the Federations, Caretaker Committees are hereby put in place to manage the affairs of the Federations until elections are conducted and the new Boards inaugurated.
6. Mindful of the Olympic Games in July 2021, the Caretaker Committees will work assiduously towards enhancing team Nigeria participation at the Games. The Ministry in partnership with the NOC, will release in due course, the time-table for the elections into National Sport Federation Boards.
7. In order to ensure transparency and accountability in the electoral process, the Ministry requested all National Sports Federations to submit their Constitutions. Regrettably, as at date, only 7 Federations have complied.
8. Having consulted with the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), the Ministry has concluded to organize elections into the Federations using the Code of Governance which is the administrative machinery that regulates the governance of Sports Federations in Nigeria.
9. I encourage all Nigerians who have passion and interest for their chosen Sports and who can contribute selflessly to the development of Sports in Nigeria to show interest in the Membership of the various National Sports Federations.
10. It is my pleasure to announce to you the composition of the Caretaker Committees for the 31 National Sports Federations who will run the affairs of the Federations until the inauguration of the new Boards; as I enjoin all stakeholders to give the Caretaker Committees the necessary support in discharging their duties effectively:-

Inter Milan are Serie A Champions for 2020/2021 Season and the team seems to be having the time of their lives happily together. There was an outburst during yesterday’s game between Roma and Inter Milan when Lautaro Martinez was substituted just around the 73rd minute after coming on in the 27th minute for injured Alexis Sanchez. The Argentinian Striker was so pissed he rained abuses on his coach Antonio Conte but both were quick to shove off the issue during post match interviews.

Today, in a bid to quell the bad blood, Romelu Lukaku and his team mates organized a boxing match with Conte standing as the Challenger.

Ronaldo May Be Playing Europa League Football Next Season

Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus slumped to a disappointing 3 nil defeat at the hands of AC Milan at the Allianz Arena courtsey of goals from Brahim Diaz, Ante Rebic and Fikayo Tomori.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus will miss Champions League qualification and go to the Europa League unless a team above them slips up in the final three games.

Juventus are presently 5th on the log, 1 point behind 4th placed Napoli, with only 3 games left to go, Juventus might find themselves in the Europa League next season. Juve’s form is not encouraging at all, this is the worst we have seen the club in over 10 years, despite having arguably one of the Greatest Player in history, it will take a miracle for the old ladies to finish in the Top 4.

Cristiano Ronaldo this season has blanked (failed to score) against Atalanta, Milan, Napoli, Inter, Porto and Fiorentina.

He has disappeared in the most crucial games this season, he’s one of the main reasons why Juventus are potentially going to Europa League. So much for a “big game player”.

Juventus signed Ronaldo because they wanted to win the Champions league and now they are heading to the Europa league.

Osimhen makes history with Napoli as he reaches double figures in the Serie A

The 22-year-old has broken off the shackles that held him in the first half of the season and continued his incredible run of form in front of goal on Saturday

Victor Osimhen is now Napoli’s joint-highest scoring African in the Italian Serie A after he scored twice Napoli’s 4-1 win against Spezia on Saturday afternoon

The Nigerian international equals Kalidou Koulibaly’s ten goals for the Neapolitans- although he did it in 21 games in contrast to Koulibaly’s 210 games.

He has now scored ten or more league goals in consecutive seasons, having scored 13 for Lille in the Ligue 1 last season. Osimhen is the youngest player after Haaland to achieve this feat in Europe’s top five leagues in the previous two seasons.

Osimhen’s brace also takes his league tally to five goals in his last four games for Gennaro Gattuso’s team. The ex-Lille man scored his first of his two goals in the 23rd minute to put Napoli two goals up after Piotr Zielinski had opened the scoring.

The Super Eagles star then scored his second and Napoli’s third just before half-time, firing into the roof of the net after he was picked out by Lorenzo Insigne.

Osimhen has now scored in four consecutive league games for the first time in his club career. The Nigerian has managed to overcome Covid-19 and injury problems to hit form at the right time.

Spezia did threaten a comeback in the second half by pulling one back through Roberto Piccoli, but Hirving Lozano’s strike in the 79th minute killed any little hope they had left.

The result lifts Napoli into second place with 70 points from 35 games, although they’ve played a game more.
