Justice Minister Helena Kida said Mozambique’s government has expelled two instructors found guilty of impregnating students at a police training school.
She also said that a disciplinary inquiry was held against them and it’s unclear how many students the men have impregnated.
“Of the cases of sexual harassment in which two instructors became involved with instructors, making them pregnant, were the object of legal-disciplinary censorship, having, in effect, been expelled from the corporation, as a culmination of the disciplinary proceedings that were instituted against them,” Minister of Justice of Mozambique, Helena Kida.
In August, reports first emerged, claiming that 15 police trainees have been impregnated after they were “harassed” into having relationships with instructors.
Justice for the women have been demanded by the Mozambique Police Association.
The minister spoke at the Assembly of the Republic, on Wednesday, during the question and answer session between the members of the executive and the deputies in the Parliament.
The minister gave no further details on the case, but pointed out that it is an example of the State’s commitment to promoting legality and respect for human rights in the work of law enforcement officers.
In this regard, she continued, 200 police officers were expelled from the corporation, from January to October, for the practice of several illegal acts, an increase of 07% in relation to the same period of 2019.

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old sex worker. Zainab Adamu, for allegedly selling her four months old baby girl for N300, 000.
Spokesperson of the command Isah Gambo, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday, December 2, said that the suspect, an indigine of Adamawa state but residing at Kofar Kaura Layout area of Katsina, was arrested on November 26, based on a tip off.
“Zainab conspired with her friend, one Ruth Kenneth, 32, of Kofar Kaura Layout, an indigene of Delta state and sold her four months old baby girl to one Chinwendi Omeh, 43, of Ekwusigo LGA of Anambra state at the cost of three hundred thousand naira (N300,000:00K).” said Gambo.
“In the course of investigation another suspect, one Chukwudi Elias Nnali, aged 45yrs of the same address, brother to Chinwindi Omeh, was also arrested for aiding and abetting the commission of the offence. The sums of one hundred and sixty-five thousand Naira, (N165,000:00K) and eighty-ive thousand Naira (N85,000:00K) were recovered from Zainab Adamu and Ruth Kenneth respectively as proceeds of the sale of the baby. Investigation is ongoing.” he added.
Police Arrests Killer Of Nasarawa APC Chairman, Governor Sule Confirms
The killer of the slain Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, Phillips Shekwo has been arrested.
Governor Sule confirmed this Tuesday while delivering a speech in Lafia, the state capital.
He identified the killer as Muhammad Yunusa, a notorious kidnapper who confessed to the crime.
The Governor who commended security personnel for the arrest of the suspect said that he was apprehended at Assakio village of Lafia east development area of the state.
“I was informed that Muhammad Usman also known as Baffa Nura, a notorious kidnapper in Nasarawa state has been arrested and he has confessed that he was the killer,” he said.
“He was arrested in Assakio, exactly where we thought we were going to get him and we were able to get him. Mister Commissioner Sir, our security personnel, I want to thank you for the good work you have continued to do.”
The APC chairman was taken away from his house at Bukan Sidi in Lafia, on November 21 when gunmen invaded the house.
His body was found the next day, a few kilometres from his house.
The politician’s death sparked fear among residents and several security strategies were in top gear to nab the perpetrators.
On his part, the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, was on a day tour to the state joined thousands of sympathisers to commiserate with the family and assured them of the support of the government.
The slain Chairman was buried in his hometown Yelwa of Toto local government area on November 27.
Court Released Man Who Kidnapped Daughter And Requested For N2m From Wife
A magistrate court at Hajj Camp in Kano has granted bail to Fahad Ali accused of kidnapping his own 4-year-old daughter and demanded ransom from his wife, the biological mother of the child.
Ali who has since denied the offence when the charges were read against him was asked to provide two sureties in the persons of his village head and Chief Imam.
The presiding magistrate, Sakina Aminu then adjourned the matter to December 9th for continuation.
Daily Trust reports that one Shamsiyya Mohammed, mother of the child had reported to police that on 29 of September her daughter was kidnapped and being called on phone asking her to pay N2m for her freedom or she be killed.
After two weeks investigation, the police uncovered that it was her husband, Fahad Ali the father of the girl that was making such calls just as the kidnapped girl was found with him.
