Thousands of youths under the aegis of the ‘Edo Youth Solidarity Movement’ have backed the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
They hoped his SIMPLE agenda manifesto would create jobs and improve the economy.
The youth spoke yesterday when they visited the APC candidate in his home with fanfare to announce their endorsement of his governorship bid.
Pastor Ize-Iyamu with his running mate, Mallam Gani Audu and other leaders of the party, including former governor Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, DG APC Campaign Council, Gen. Cecil Esekhaigbe and Vice Chairman, Media and Publicity Committee, APC National Campaign Council, Mr. Patrick Obahiagbon, received the youth.
Spokespersons for the youth, John Izegaegbe, Edo South and Godwin Aigbokhaode, Edo North, assured Ize-Iyamu and other APC members that in addition to the guaranteed votes of thousands of their members across the three senatorial districts, they have begun mobilisation in the 18 local governments to ensure APC standard-bearer’s success at the polls on September 19.
Pastor Ize-Iyamu lamented the state of the economy and the declining level of jobs and economic opportunities for youths.
He slammed the incumbent governor for his focus on politics at the expense of governance and promised to implement the programmes outlined in his manifesto to stimulate the economy, create jobs and eradicate crime.
Ize-Iyamu said: “Instead of empowering our youths and exploring opportunities to positively engage them, the governor continues to denigrate and insult them as ‘agberos’.

Many of you here are well-educated, qualified and competent to handle complex tasks and projects. Instead of patronising you, the governor insults you and chooses to do his business elsewhere.
“My own government will be different. We have plans to create jobs for our youths. We will empower and patronise them.

We don’t think you are good for election period only. If you elect me, you will have a friend in the Government House; a governor who is accessible, lives among you and is accountable to you.”
Comrade Oshiomhole said the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has chosen to focus on the things he said in the past in the spirit of electioneering, instead of presenting their achievements and plans to the people.

Said he: “They cannot display their achievements because they don’t have any. They have decided to focus on Oshiomhole although he is not in the ballot.
Pastor Ize-Iyamu is a good man with genuine plans to move Edo State forward. He has the support of all and is on his way to repeating the 2012 feat of winning in all the 18 local governments as I did when he was my campaign director general.”

The Fiery Catholic Priest and the Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry Uke, Anambra, Nigeria , Reverend Fr. Emmanuel Obimma, last week urged Ndi Anambra to support DR Chidozie Nwankwo Wilson, the Witchtech Boss, in order to continue with his good works.

Since Anambra started, we have never experienced a governorship aspirant that has so much agricultural, educational and economic emancipation scheme, like him.

“For more than 20 years the witchtech boss have been in the active business of employing, giving scholarships, setting up entrepreneurs and have over 6000 Anambra youths employed, this one that we see what he has being doing, let’s follow him.

” I pray for a peaceful transition from my good friend Chief Willie Obiano, that he may complete his remaining one year. He will hand over to a better person, may the Lord keep him.

The Rev Fr praised Dr Chido for his efforts during the outbreak in march till today, for helping to prevent hunger from killing many families during the lockdown.”

“Chidozie has the character and the experience to guide us through this our darkest times and heal us through a long recovery,”

“,He said“And I know he’ll surround himself with good people – experts, entrepreneurs, intellectuals, police officials who actually know how to run the government and care about doing a good job running the government, and know how to work with our people, and who will always put the Anambra people’s interests above their own.”

“And he prayed and blessed him there, the people’s servant, DR Chidozie Wilson Nwankwo reacted immediately by thanking him and promised to give back the government of Ndi Anambra back to the people of Anambra”.

IN THE NEWS: People Can Mourn Me Anyway They Like When I Die — Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo says he does not care how Nigerians mourn him when he dies

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo says he does not care how Nigerians mourn him when he dies.

He stated this in reaction to the controversy generated by his condolence message on the death of Senator Buruji Kashamu, who died of COVID-19 complications in Lagos on Saturday.

“Senator Esho Jinadu (Buruji Kashmu) in his lifetime used the maneuver of law and politics to escape from facing justice on alleged criminal offence in Nigeria and outside Nigeria.

“But no legal, political, cultural, social or even medical maneuver could stop the cold hands of death when the Creator of all of us decides that the time is up.

“May Allah forgive his sin and accept his soul into Aljanah, and may God grant his family and friends fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” Obasanjo had said.

But some Nigerians, including former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, bashed him for the message and accused him of mocking the dead.

However, Obasanjo said that though it was normal to mourn the dead, the living should learn to draw lessons from the lives they led.

The former president added that no society could develop by pretending that bad men were good just because they died.

“When I was growing up, in our community, when anyone known with bad character died, we usually only mourn him and bury him. No eulogy. No praise-singing.

“There is an English saying that urges us never to talk ill of the dead. But in this case, we are not talking ill of the dead. We are only drawing lessons from the life and history of the dead. I am not gloating over his death. It is sad for anyone to die and we must mourn him.

“But we must learn from such a passage. There will be bad lessons. There will be good lessons. But we should not just be praise-singing or eulogising the dead, especially when there is no need to do so.

“We should not cover up bad histories and conducts so that the right lessons can be learnt,” he told Premium Times.

Reminded that he could be mourned the same way he chose to mourn Kashamu, Obasanjo fired back, “As you know, I say my mind as truthfully as I know them and in line with my convictions. People are free to say whatever they want about my comment. I don’t begrudge people for holding opinions on whatever I say or do.

“Let people say whatever they like when I transit. Now that I am alive, am I not being abused? Whenever I transit, let people say whatever they know or think about me. Let them say it as it is. What my maker thinks of me is what matters most.”

Ajayi resigned from the party on Sunday night after he lost the bid to secure the PDP governorship ticket during the primary election.

The deputy governor handed over his letter of resignation to Festus Oboro, Chairman of the PDP in Apoi Ward II of Ese-Odo LGA of the state.

Mr Allen Sowore, media aide to the deputy governor, confirmed the resignation of Ajayi through a statement on Monday.

It was gathered that the deputy governor was now set to officially join Zenith Labour Party where he has been assured of the party’s ticket to contest in the October 10, 2020 governorship election in the state.

Ajayi had been meeting with the immediate-past governor of the state, Olusegun Mimiko, who is a major financier of the ZLP.
